What matters to us (= value) can &#8220;attract&#8221; and <b>motivate <\/b>us. At the same time something valuable can make us <b>afraid<\/b>. We might loose or miss, what\u00b4s important to us. As we try to achieve our goals and fulfill our longings, we push our <b>own limits<\/b>. Courageously we enter unknown territory, take risks. While doing so, fears and doubts will occur. That\u00b4s completely normal. A <b>comfort zone <\/b>is defined as well-known territory. We know what to do and how to act &amp; react. Entering new territory potentially activates <u>old feelings, beliefs, thoughts<\/u> and <u>fears<\/u>. While we evolve &amp; grow doubts &amp; fears act like <u>guards of the comfort zone<\/u>. They alert us, as we enter unknown territory.\u00a0<\/p><p>On the other hand<b> doubts, <\/b> <b>fears<\/b> and <b>anxieties <\/b>can also represent\u00a0<b>warning signs.\u00a0<\/b>They may indicate, that something <b>doesn&#8217;t fit<\/b>,\u00a0we\u00b4re about to turn into the wrong direction or that adjustments &amp; further preparation need to be done. Thus, fears &amp; doubts can help us to <u>check<\/u> and <u>reconsider<\/u> important decisions &amp; <b><u>avoid failure<\/u><\/b> or damage.\u00a0<\/p><p>Even though fears &amp; doubts are part of life, we oftentimes make a big effort to avoid<b>\u00a0feeling<\/b> them. You don\u00b4t want to feel &#8220;bad&#8221; by choice, do you? <br \/>Just &#8211; if you avoid to acknowledge &amp; feel doubts &amp; fears, there\u00b4s no way to learn dealing with them. Avoiding or surpressing them can lead to helplessness, scarcity or even freeze whenever an obstacle or doubt occurs. It leaves us powerless, because we seem unable to move forward. Does that sound familiar?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6cbc158 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"6cbc158\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><b>freeze<\/b> | nothing works anymore<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-14bab53 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"14bab53\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-align: start;\">I believe joyfulness to be a basic need of us human beings. <\/span><span style=\"text-align: start;\">In the last twelve years there was an innumerable\u00a0amount of people, I accompanied on their pathways &amp; walked mine as well. It can be said that fears &amp; doubts are\u00a0 the most prominent antidotes of <b>joy &amp; happiness<\/b>. And the most persistent blockage in\u00a0<b>achieving goals<\/b>. Especially when doubts &amp; fears are followed by\u00a0<b>paralysis\u00a0<\/b>&#8211; which means the onset of a\u00a0<b>freeze<\/b>-response (context of\u00a0<a style=\"font-weight: bold; text-decoration-line: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ashleytreatment.org\/rehab-blog\/learning-about-stress-responses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stress reactions<\/a>). Freezing immobilizes &amp; blocks us. No option to act.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-align: start;\">Fears &amp; doubts are part of life. The <b><u>will<\/u><\/b> occur. Even if we don\u00b4t want to feel them, we have to<b> face &amp; learn to deal <\/b>with them. Else paralysis will continue\u00a0to rule our life and sabotage achieving goals.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d22b675 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"d22b675\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Dealing with <b>doubts &amp; fears<\/b><\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-21fb07c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"21fb07c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Since fight, flight, fright &amp; freeze are automatic responses, a\u00a0<b>strategy\u00a0<\/b>is needed to exit. Unfortunately, we were\u00a0<b>not<\/b> equipped with\u00a0<b>an instruction manual for<\/b> our inner universe when we were born. So we need to acquire a technique, that encompasses stress reduction, defusion (dis-identification) and acceptance. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC3573578\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>MBCT-based<\/strong><\/span><\/a> technique seems appropriate for that. <br \/>After finding a tool that works for us, constant practice is key. Responses to doubts and fear mostly run automatic. They were learned and repeated again and again. Acquisition of a new technique\u00a0needs our system to be able to learn something new. That means, a new technique has to be repeated over and over again until the new imprint can be recalled more easy from our neuronal network.\u00a0Repetition creates an alternative blueprint.<\/p><p>The following steps are recommended:\u00a0<br \/><br \/><b>1. Let doubts &amp; fears surface<\/b> while imagining a situation or challenge, that scares you<br \/><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif;\"><b>2. Surrender<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\"> completely to arising\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">thoughts &amp; feelings. Welcome &amp; accept all bodily sensations, without doing something with them<br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif;\"><b>3. Hold on<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\"> and simply<\/span><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif;\"><b> acknowledge<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\"> it (<\/span><i style=\"font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">&#8220;Yes, it is like that; Yes, I feel that now;&#8221;<\/i><span style=\"font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">)<\/span><br \/><b>4. Sit with\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif;\"><b>doubts &amp; fears<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif;\"><b>breathe<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\"> and wait until your system adapts &#8211; at least 10 minutes<\/span><br \/><b>5. Don\u00b4t feed the phenomena<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">, step back\u00a0from catastrophizing, just observe &amp;\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif;\"><b>your system will adapt<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">\u00a0&amp; calm down<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">Repeat this practice. If you adapt,\u00a0you succeeded. By time you\u00b4ll start feeling <\/span><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif;\"><b>more secure<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\"> <u>while experiencing fears &amp; doubts<\/u>. You don\u00b4t need to push them aside anymore &amp; can switch to observation. You can stop avoid feeling them,\u00a0because uncertainty fades.
